Robert Tennant
Chief Executive Officer

Bob Tennant is the Chief Executive Officer at Recommind, where he is responsible for all operational and strategic business initiatives. Prior to joining Recommind he served as the managing director of Swiftsure Capital and in senior positions in the Java Software division of Sun Microsystems, w here he led the marketing of the Java platform into consumer electronics. Mr. Tennant came to Sun through the acquisition of Beduin Communications, “one of Canada’s hottest start-ups” in the Fall of 1998. Mr. Tennant was a co-founder of Beduin and served as CEO and President until its acquisition.
Mr. Tennant is a board member of several successful young companies and a graduate of the University of Victoria, the University of California at Berkeley, and Columbia University, from which he has an MBA.
 
Dr. Jan Puzicha
Chief Technology Officer (Co-Founder)

Dr. Puzicha is the Chief Technology Officer at Recommind, where he is responsible for translating abstract research into Recommind's highly scalable product line. He is an expert in real-time information optimization and statistical modeling. Previously, he held a research fellow position in the Computer Science Department at UC Berkeley, where he worked on machine learning problems and cutting-edge research in graphical models and computer vision.
Dr. Puzicha holds a Ph.D. from the University of Bonn, where he graduated with honors. His strengths lie in his ability to turn mathematical models and algorithms into working industrial products.
 
Derek Schueren
Vice President of Sales (Co-Founder)

Derek Schueren is Vice President of Sales at Recommind, where he oversees sales activities into several vertical market segments. Mr. Schueren has worked with a number of AmLaw 100 firms and Fortune 500 corporations to improve information access and distribution using advanced search and categorization software. He is a frequent speaker at industry events such as KMWorld and Intranets, Knowledge Counsel Forum and Ark Group KM events. Prior to co-founding Recommind along with scientists from the University of Bonn, MIT and UC Berkeley, Mr. Schueren was at S & T World Products where he held several senior positions in sales and operations.
Mr. Schueren holds a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Brown University and a Masters degree from the University of
Oregon.
 
Craig Carpenter
Vice President of Marketing and Business Development

Craig Carpenter, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, oversees all aspects of marketing and business development at Recommind. Mr. Carpenter has extensive experience in the enterprise software, information security, and eDiscovery industries, and is a frequent speaker and panelist at industry events like the Wall Street Technology Association, ISSA, Interop, RSA Conference. Mr. Carpenter is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of San Francisco where he teaches graduate classes on high tech marketing, content management and digital rights management (DRM). Prior to Recommind, Mr. Carpenter was Senior Director of Corporate Marketing & Global Channels at Mirapoint, a leading messaging and information security vendor. Prior to Mirapoint, Mr. Carpenter was Senior Director, Field Marketing & Global Channels and acting General Counsel at Fortinet. Mr. Carpenter began his career as a corporate transactional and litigation attorney with Ropers, Majeski, et al, where he helped guide startups from formation through periods of rapid growth.
Mr. Carpenter received his MBA and JD from Santa Clara University and his BA in history and political science from UCLA
 
David Baskin
Vice President of Product Management

David Baskin, Vice President of Product Management, is responsible for the development and delivery of high quality technology products to address the most challenging enterprise search, information management and eDiscovery needs of enterprises, professional service firms and law firms. Mr. Baskin has played a key role with the EDRM Project (www.edrm.net), a highly influential industry group tasked with creating and maintaining standards for the eDiscovery industry, and will continue his leadership of the XML Schema Project in his position with Recommind. Prior to joining Recommind, Mr. Baskin was the leader of eDiscovery product management at ZANTAZ (an Autonomy company), where he was responsible for strategy and product direction. Prior to his tenure at ZANTAZ, Mr. Baskin served as a vice president of Research and Development at Daticon, a litigation software and services company. Previous to Daticon, he founded and ran Baskin Consulting, a specialized consultancy providing R&D expertise across multiple industries.
Mr. Baskin earned his BA from the University of Rhode Island and holds an MBA from Babson College.
 
Anne Kroger
Vice President of Operations

Anne Kroger is the Vice President of Operations for Recommind in San Francisco, California. She has extensive financial, operational and business experience in the technology sector for both public and private companies. Prior to joining Recommind, Ms. Kroger most recently served as Vice President of Finance for Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. and spent several years in Europe where she held positions as Executive Director for Advanced Digital Information Corporation and Senior Director for Concur Technologies, Inc. Ms. Kroger is a CPA and formerly was an auditor with Deloitte and Touche.
 
Hartwig Laute
Director of European Operations

Hartwig Laute is the Managing Director of Recommind GmbH in Bonn, Germany. He is responsible for overseeing European operations in software and business development. Prior to joining Recommind, Mr. Laute was chief operating officer with BauGrund, a German urban development company, where he had previously held senior positions in a variety of functions.
