New Search-Based Application For SharePoint Available for Recommind’s Award-Winning Enterprise Search Solution
SAN FRANCISCO — June 19, 2012 — Recommind, the leader in predictive information management software, today announced a new module for Decisiv Search, Content Delivery for SharePoint (CDS), for indexing and displaying content of any kind, from any location, within SharePoint 2010.
Content Delivery for SharePoint makes it easy for organizations to assemble and display enterprise content within SharePoint 2010, no matter where that content happens to reside. Previously, to access information stored outside of SharePoint, organizations needed to use an unwieldy host of third-party connectors, each with its own interface and configuration options. Content Delivery for SharePoint indexes content wherever it is, enabling users to place the content on a SharePoint page by displaying the results of a simple preconfigured search query. Content Delivery for SharePoint thereby removes the need for multiple Web Parts from different vendors, providing a unified view of SharePoint content that simplifies site and page creation, accelerates design and deployment of SharePoint environments and reduces overall costs.
The list of features available through Content Delivery for SharePoint includes:
• Delivery of any enterprise content to SharePoint, from any location
• Unified, consistent display of content through CDS Web Parts
• Easy deployment, configuration and modification of Web Parts without the need to write code
• Single collection of Web Parts to display enterprise content
• Respect for existing security permissions, ensuring correct access to content from within SharePoint
• Ability for users to adjust presentation of search results for each Web Part
• Ability to search specifically within a Web Part.
This latest module builds upon Recommind’s years of experience implementing enterprise search for some of the world’s largest organizations. Using Recommind’s CORE® (Context Optimized Relevancy Engine) platform, CDS connects users with relevant information from document management and records management systems, portals, email systems and myriad other applications and databases, completely in context.
“SharePoint provides a framework to create full featured internal websites to achieve a variety of business goals, but it may require labor-intensive human intervention to keep sites up to date with the latest content,” said Oz Benamram, Chief Knowledge Officer, White & Case. “The ability to pull information from all the firm’s databases and seamlessly populate SharePoint pages with targeted information allows for the full potential and promise of SharePoint as an Intranet solution, thereby improving overall ROI on our SharePoint implementation.”
“Organizations keep vast amounts of digital information in archives and repositories. The truth is, not all of it can or should be migrated to SharePoint,” said Craig Carpenter, Vice President Marketing, Recommind. “At the same time, a SharePoint installation can only reach its full potential if it can access corporate data whether it happens to be in SharePoint or not. Until now, building content-rich sites and pages in SharePoint meant struggling with multiple third-party applications. Our Content Delivery for SharePoint module brings everything together in one place. It gives users an easy, configurable and extensible solution that delivers exactly the content needed without customization or coding. For SharePoint administrators, CDS represents a tremendous step forward in speed and usability.”
The module is available in limited release to current customers, with general availability coming in Q3.
