Recommind Announces Strategic Partnership with Open Text to Create End-to-End Legal Hold Platform
Partnership Integrates the Open Text Enterprise Content Management Suite with Recommind’s Insite Legal Hold™, Allowing Enterprises to Automatically Identify, Explore, Collect and Preserve Data
San Francisco and Chicago, December 9, 2008 - Recommind, a leading provider of enterprise search, email management and eDiscovery systems, and Open Text, a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), today announced a strategic alliance that combines Recommind’s Insite Legal Hold™ application with Open Text’s ECM Suite. The integration adds key early case assessment capabilities to the ECM Suite and allows enterprises to quickly, accurately and automatically identify, explore, collect and preserve data directly from within the ECM Suite.
In today’s turbulent financial climate, enterprises face a critical need to manage information for regulatory, investigatory and litigation-related purposes. The combined Open Text/Recommind platform gives enterprises the accuracy, speed and effectiveness necessary to comply with government regulations, prepare and protect themselves from impending litigation and efficiently store and preserve invaluable data. Open Text announced in a separate release today (http://www.opentext.com/news) that it will offer the solution as Open Text eDiscovery Early Case Assessment powered by Recommind.
Completely unique in the industry, Insite Legal Hold uses proprietary Explore in Place™ technology to locate and analyze information where it resides before it is collected and placed on hold in response to an investigation or lawsuit. This paradigm shift in legal hold methodology allows enterprises to quickly and accurately collect and hold only the data necessary for any given investigation or legal proceeding in a highly defensible manner. Using Recommind’s award-winning conceptual search and auto-categorization technology, Insite Legal Hold also automatically identifies and collects any newly created information which may be relevant to a given legal hold, while automatically organizing all information by more than 20 key parameters like concept group, file type, language and key phrase, supporting instant analysis of data prior to a hold being executed. These features make Insite Legal Hold the most advanced solution able to help companies to dramatically improve the speed and accuracy of the legal hold process while drastically reducing the cost across the entire eDiscovery spectrum. Having this functionality accessible from within the Open Text ECM Suite will enable Open Text customers and prospects to employ the broadest, most powerful ECM and eDiscovery platform on the market today.
“Our customers are quickly recognizing that we are entering a new era of financial and legal regulation, putting increased strain on enterprise IT teams and making an automated, seamless legal hold system an absolute necessity for enterprises. Integrating Insite Legal Hold into the Open Text ECM Suite will offer an important, complementary benefit to our customers and prospects,” said Stephen Ludlow, Program Manager for eDiscovery Solutions, Open Text. “Combining Recommind’s completely unique Insite Legal Hold technology with the Open Text ECM Suite will offer enterprises a proactive, practical solution for locating, analyzing, collecting and retaining important data at the exact time customers need it.”
“This partnership of two industry leaders with a wealth of experience and expertise represents a significant step forward in helping organizations reduce risk, yet still provide the highest level of accuracy and efficiency throughout the investigatory and litigation review processes,” said Robert Tennant, CEO, Recommind. “The average Fortune 500 enterprise is faced with over 150 lawsuits in a given year; this, along with a host of other factors, has made the ability to quickly and efficiently gain insight into and respond to the deluge of internal and external investigations and lawsuits business critical. Combining Insite Legal Hold’s innovative technology and processes with Open Text’s content and records management capabilities will offer our collective customers, prospects and partners a fully integrated, best of breed solution unmatched in the industry.”
