Lawyers at International Law Firm Will Use MindServer Platform to Search, Access and Share Information From Internal and External Sources

London, April 2, 2008 – Recommind, a leading provider of enterprise search, automatic categorisation and eDiscovery systems for enterprises and law firms, has announced that international law firm Eversheds has selected Recommind’s MindServer platform to power data search and categorisation across its offices to around 4,000 users with intelligent access to internal and external sources of information.

Eversheds sought a solution that would better manage and retrieve information from the vast amount of data stored across its offices. Recommind’s MindServer platform will provide relevant, trustworthy and accurate answers to queries drawn from the company’s existing knowledge base and Intranet content. It will do this by fully integrating with its internal data assets plus external resources such the Practical Law Company (PLC) information repository.

“At Eversheds, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our business processes,” said Wendy Small, Head of Knowledge Management at Eversheds. “When looking for an enterprise search solution to replace our previous knowledge management system, we needed to be sure that it would be intelligent enough to work effectively. We also wanted to reduce input from lawyers and the resource intensive procedures (such as manual indexing and abstract creation) that are currently performed by our professional Knowledge team and practice lawyers.”

“The MindServer platform’s contextual search capability means that our staff will benefit not only from faster and more accurate search, but also from having to spend less time second guessing the search tool in order to get the information they want. Ultimately this means that we can offer an enhanced level of service delivery to our external clients which is a key business driver for the firm.”

Following a phased implementation strategy, the MindServer platform will work in conjunction with Eversheds’ current IT portal, forming an integral part of the firm’s Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) portal and searching across all MOSS repositories. This information will be accessible to users internationally – bringing a new level of efficiency to Eversheds’ information access and retrieval.

“We looked for a system that would maximise the value of our resources and meet our international needs along with the firms continued growth requirements,” continued Small. “We needed to ensure that we chose a solution that was equal to our ambitions. The MindServer platform met our business model requirements in every way possible – the contextual nature of its search technology greatly improves relevancy and therefore reduces query times, slashing the man-hours needed to keep our information systems working at peak efficiency.”

“Businesses like Eversheds need a solution that is flexible and comprehensive enough to cope with the data-intensive nature of the legal industry,” said Simon Price, UK Director of Recommind. “Furthermore, it must be able to work across all internal systems, with integration with MOSS being of particular importance for Eversheds. Unifying all data sources throughout the organisation with an intelligent enterprise search and retrieval solution designed specifically to cope with the rigours of international legal demands is an absolute must. We look forward to contributing to the overall success of the business by ensuring the best results for its staff.”
