Recommind Brings Deep Legal Expertise to EDRM Project to Help Define eDiscovery Standards and Guidelines
Enterprise Search Leader Joins Industry Leaders Working to Address Complex eDiscovery Challenges
SAN FRANCISCO, May 15, 2007 –Recommind, the leading provider of search and automated categorization systems for law firms and enterprises, today announced their membership in the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Project. Recommind joins other eDiscovery industry visionaries in the EDRM Project, a non-profit organization chartered with developing and establishing practical guidelines and standards for electronic discovery.
Launched in May 2005, the EDRM project was created to address the lack of standards and guidelines in the electronic discovery market. The completed reference model provides a common, flexible, and extensible framework for the development, evaluation and use of electronic discovery products and services. Since its inception, the group has grown to include thought leaders from law firms, eDiscovery vendors, and large enterprises. Recommind’s membership in the EDRM Project solidifies the company’s leadership role as a visionary in the eDiscovery space and demonstrates its commitment to helping bring to fruition a unified series of standards that are beneficial to the entire industry.
“We are pleased to have Recommind join us in our collective effort to solve the complex challenges inherent with eDiscovery – challenges which became highly publicized with the revision to Federal Rules of Civil Procedure that went into effect last December,” said George Socha, independent consultant and co-founder of the EDRM Project. “Recommind’s membership adds invaluable technology and problem-solving expertise to the wide spectrum of perspectives provided by over 100 organizations that have participated in various EDRM projects.”
“Recommind has long been at the epicenter of several powerful trends – serving both as a leading innovator in enterprise search, while also having significant domain expertise in addressing the highly specialized needs of the legal community,” said Craig Carpenter, vice president of marketing and business development for Recommind. “We are excited to extend our presence even further among those bringing standardization to the world of eDiscovery and are eager to contribute our distinctive technology knowledge and share our best practices to advance the worthy goals of the EDRM Project.”
